In a possible re-run of the infamous Nirbhaya case, a Delhi woman was allegedly gang-raped and brutally assaulted by a group of men in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad. A 40-year-old woman from Delhi was allegedly gang-raped by five men in Ghaziabad inside a vehicle. Police have registered a case in the matter and detained four people and said that the accused and the victim’s family were involved in a property dispute. The five men named in the FIR are Dinu, Shahrukh, Javed, Dhola and Aurangzeb.
According to the panel, the woman was waiting for an auto-rickshaw in Ghaziabad to attend her brother’s birthday celebration on October 16 when she got kidnapped and held captive for two days and brutally accused. The DCW also issued a statement in which it said that the woman was kidnapped by four men and taken to another location, where she was gang-raped by them and another man for two days. She was then put in a sack with hands and legs tied and was left on the road, found in a pool of blood, with an iron rod inserted in her private parts, and is currently hospitalised in Delhi in a serious condition, the statement added.
DCW chief Swati Maliwal said, “The incident is very horrific and disturbing. It reminds me of the Nirbhaya case. All accused must be arrested immediately and strict action taken against them. I fail to understand how long women and children be subjected to such extreme brutality.” According to Ghaziabad Superintendent of Police Nipun Agarwal, the incident came to light after the police received information that a woman was found lying near Ghaziabad’s Ashram Road. Police then took her to a hospital and she registered a complaint from the hospital. She’s a resident of Delhi&had come to her brother’s residence in Nandgram”
